DisneyDisney has branched out and now has vacation packages worldwide with theme parks in Europe, Japan and Hong Kong. But, the big three are still Disneyland Park in California, Walt Disney World in Florida and Disney cruises.

After more than 30 years in cartoon animation, Walt Disney opened Disneyland in July 1955. Walt died in 1966 before the opening of the bigger Disney World in Orlando, Fla., which opened in 1971.

Fast forward to today. Disneyland has two theme parks: Disneyland and California Adventure Park. Disney World has four theme parks: Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom, plus two water parks, a golf course and the downtown Disney entertainment area.

Disney Cruise Lines also have four ships named Magic, Wonder, Dream and Fantasy. Disney gives visitors a different cruising adventure. When you dine, you change restaurants every night, but your waiter moves with you. The ships have bigger than normal rooms with split bathrooms especially for families and of course Disney characters on board.

Whatever your vacation preference, Disney does it right. They are very tech savvy and easy to navigate whether in the park or at sea.

New in the last year is MyMagic+, which allows guests to personalize and make the most of their Disney vacation. Guests now receive MagicBands, wristbands they can personalize before getting to the park. They are radio-frequency identification bracelets to use for restaurant or show purchases, room entry, park entry and more.

Also part of MyMagic+ is an app for smart phones to allow visitors to pull up event schedules, get park maps and see current wait times for rides and attractions. The new FastPass+ lets guests sign up to pre-select up to three attractions in a single park for each day to receive a slotted FastPass time. Memory Maker is also available through MyMagic+. It’s an unlimited photo package that gives you access to all the photos taken by Disney PhotoPass photographers at character meet and greets throughout the park as well as photos taken on the rides.

Disney World also has three dining packages that can be pre-purchased and added to MagicBands. These dining packages can save a lot of money. Last year, there were times when they ran specials where the dining package was free. Generally they are when the kids are in school. The parks are less busy and it is a way to get people into the park
