The Stand

The Divas went to the Fort Wayne International Airport to pick up a dear friend and former Diva, Kathy. She was returning from the Caymen Islands. By the time we got to Bluffton Road, we were all hungry and stopped at a place called The Stand, located at 5200 Bluffton Road.

This particular day, the weather was cool, breezy and quite a change from the Caymen Islands! None the less we had a delicious lunch of all things hot dogs. The picnic tables are outside with umbrellas to protect from the elements. Even so, it was quite a change for Kathy for it was only 70 degrees that day! Not only are there plenty of tables, but a drive-through is available, too.

We dined on coney dogs, habanero dogs, brats with sauerkraut and of course a bag of chips. For drinks, we had smoothies: the island oasis. Delicious! I guess Kathy just couldn’t let the islands go! There was also chili, a variety of soups, a variety of sandwiches to choose from as well as sodas, slushes, ice cream and sundaes. Did I mention this beautiful little stand is located next to a driving range? This is a great place to spend the afternoon. Will the Divas return? Of course we will and hope to see you there!

About the divas: Divas Linda and Sandy have known each other for years. They graduated from North Side High School 1964 and 1965. Though their paths took many different twists and turns, they both are still in Fort Wayne, and share many of the same interests such as writing poetry and short stories. The duo also love to support small, local businesses and make it point to eat at the many nice restaurants that abound in the community. To contact the Divas, email suekensington@frontier.com.
