Two awesome events in early October encourage women to Celebrate their Spirit and DreamSTRONG!
Four amazing women speakers will take the stage at the Landmark Conference and Reception Centre for lively discussion celebrating the Spirit of every woman! The day is filled with humor, inspiration, poignancy, music, great luncheon food — and chocolate. Women will leave the event inspired, intrigued with new ideas and with goodie bags brimming, too. Recording artists will perform throughout the day along with world-class speakers. The third annual Celebrating the Spirit of Women takes place Friday, Oct. 3, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
“What’s really cool about this event is while we bring in the celebrity speakers, the focus is on women and celebrating what makes us tick,” says Connie Gorrell, event organizer. “The aim is to inspire, motivate and innovate new ideas – all of this along with two national recording artists, a fabulous luncheon, and plenty of breaks for vendors and shopping.”
This year’s theme is “What’s Your Story?” “The focus will be on what has gotten you on or off your path, how to put your story together or even rewrite it,” shared Gorrell. “If you’re like me, you have rewritten your story a few times already.”
The DreamSTRONG Foundation is a sponsor of this event. DreamSTRONG is a non-profit organization that seeks to help women achieve their vocational, professional, or entrepreneurial dreams to improve their lives, and the lives of those they love. The foundation became legally effective July 28, 2014 — the 13th anniversary of Gorrell’s son Rob’s death.
“Shortly before Rob died, he asked what I wanted to be when I ‘grow up.’ I replied that I dreamed of being published as myself (not as the voice of corporations for which I had been writing professionally) and that I wanted a successful business of my own,” said Gorrell. “His encouraging yet haunting words to me were: ‘Whatever you dream of doing, Mom, you have to be strong—and go for it.’
Gorrell’s passion is to help women take control of their circumstances and create better lives for themselves and their families. DreamSTRONG is dedicated to following an important path: Empowering and enriching the lives of women by partnering with and supporting existing programs, working together to boost reach, and creating opportunities for educational guidance to get out of unhealthy situations, even if it’s only the dread of being stuck or not able to follow your true passion in life.
The DreamSTRONG Foundation will have its official launch party, Black and White Night, the evening before the Celebrating the Spirit of Women event. It takes place 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 2, at the Hilton Garden Inn. Participants are encouraged to wear casual black and white, and will enjoy door prizes, silent auctions, wine, hors d’oeuvres and take home a gift pack.
The Celebrating the Spirit of Women event the following day meshes wonderfully with the vision of DreamSTRONG. The speakers at the event will be encouraging, intriguing and are sure to leave you inspired.
Speakers are Sunny Dawn Johnston, an inspirational television personality and author who has helped thousands of people find their personal, spiritual connection, recognize their natural gifts, and listen to their inner truth; Heather McCloskey Beck, an inspirational author and musician, co-founder of the global peace movement, Peace Flash, and columnist for The Huffington Post; Dian Anderson, an international speaker, professional action coach, and founder of Anderson Coaching and Training who has taught managers, supervisors and employers in the corporate world methods of relieving stress in the workplace and how to deal with difficult people; and finally Gorrell herself, who will share more about the DreamStrong initiative.
