Happy New Year!
I’ve never been one to set New Year’s resolutions. I have a lot of goals that I pursue throughout the year some I succeed at, and some… not so much! Two years ago, I started to pursue a longtime goal of mine: learning to play the piano. I really loved it, but it was harder than you think to learn to read music as an adult. About a year ago, life got in the way and I slowly starting missing more and more lessons, and more and more practice time. Now my little, green upright piano sits sadly unplayed.
I experienced a similar line of events with my yoga practice. I was an avid yogi for years, when one day, I got too busy, and then the day after that and the day after that. Up until last month, I hadn’t attended a yoga class in more than a year! The sad part is I love it, and it makes me feel so good!
Why do we have such a hard time thinking about ourselves every once in a while? Women, especially, tend to focus on 10 million different things before they think about what their own mind, body or spirit might need. I’m happy to say within the last month, I’ve carved a few hours into my schedule each week to take some yoga classes. My kind hubby gifted me an unlimited month-long pass to my favorite local studio. After the month is over, I definitely hope life doesn’t get in the way again. I’m so ready to start this New Year more stretched out and with a clearer mind. I hope you are too!
