P.S. from the editor

“October. It’s a busy month – if you flip to our monthly To Do List, you’ll find this month’s calendar jammed packed
with activities… everything from spooky Halloween stuff, Fall family fun, to benefits for breast cancer research. And like the To Do List, this issue is also jammed packed with articles relating to these monthly occurrences.

This month’s issue is a great read. I think it’s safe to say that I have too many favorites to pick just one!

This past month, I’ve been busy with the last of my summer harvest. I’ve frozen tomato soup and tomato sauce, made some jars of dilly beans, and enjoyed every last bit of produce from Clay Bottom Farm in Goshen, where I volunteer in exchange for a CSA share each week. I’ve also been busy painting my new house, rearranging furniture, and buying new accessories to make it just right. It seems like a never ending process though! I wish I had a little unpacking fairy to help!

Another notable event from the last month? In August, I did participate in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. If you’re like me and had no idea what the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge was, or really anything about ALS… see here: http://www.alsa.org/news/archive/als-ice-bucket-challenge.html. I admit, it is a silly thing to do, but for the amount of money it’s raised, I’d say it’s worth it. This challenge may have run it’s course by now, but it’s not too late to read about ALS, so I hope you will!

Happy October! ”
