From the first bite of freshly made guacamole to the last sip of our margaritas, we enjoyed it all! Kim, our 18-year el Azteca veteran server, didn’t hesitate to make suggestions. And she surely knew what direction to send us.
The guacamole was super fresh, filled with chunky diced tomatoes, onions, fresh cilantro and surrounded by an abundance of chips. Made fresh to order—we loved it. The Jack cheese, chile and onion gorged enchilada was covered with red chili sauce and Colby cheese. Concerned with potential bone-loss (we are getting older, you know) this entre is a grand way to load up on cheese-based calcium. (It’s our story and we’re sticking to it, thank you.) Then we tried the chicken burrito, served wet style and filled with moist and yummy boneless chicken chunks. The almendra sauce provides a signature flavor that’s distinct in all the right ways. Then there was the tamale. Garlic, cilantro, shredded chicken and fresh tomatillo neatly wrapped in a tiedup husk. Pretty plus tasty—what’s not to love about this food?
Our drink choice was the signature Azteca Squeeze Margarita. Hand-shaken and served on the rocks. Using Sauza Hornitos Resposado tequila, they added a splash of premium orange liqueur and freshly squeezed lime and orange juice. A delicious complement to our meals.
