Good Food Review by Lynn Keefer, glo account executive

A year ago, glo featured a story on Decatur, Ind. I have lived in Fort Wayne for 10 years and have only driven through Decatur, but decided to visit in order to see what it was all about and what the town had to offer. I will tell you, I was very skeptical, but in the end, I was pleasantly surprised! Decatur has quaint little stores and eateries. The town had very friendly people.

As I was going from shop to shop, quite a few people asked me if I had been to Marko’s on 2nd. No, I replied, what is it? They said it was a five-star restaurant that specializes in Midwest- Southern Fusion Cuisine, located on Second street.

The following week, I went for dinner. It was amazing! I’ve been there since. Here’s my review:

Marko’s on 2nd (http://www.markoson2nd.net) has an old world charm. It is dimly lit and has a beautifully wood carved bar. I sat in the bar area., which is very cozy, and started with the drink special: a white chocolate peppermint martini. Yummy!

My meal started with jumbo lump crab cake over baby kale, with crispy pork belly, lemon oil and smoked tomato red eye gravy. It was moist and sweet. Just the right amount of flavor, it was not overbearing and I could taste the flavor of the crab. I also ordered the cream of artichoke soup. The soup was very light, but also very creamy. The mixed green salad with spiced pecans, goat cheese, applewood bacon with a citrus vinaigrette dressing was sweet and tangy a great combination.

My server also brought a loaf of steamy sourdough bread with butter. So far at this point in my meal, I am in heaven and happy that I didn’t eat much throughout the day! For my main course, I had the lobster claw, knuckle meat, shrimp, tomato, anisette, and lobster pan sauce over creamy white truffle grits. It was loaded with lobster, large shrimp and knuckle meat. The grits were done to perfection. The combination of this dish was amazing.

Marko’s on 2nd is NOT to be missed. You may have the best meal of your life there!
