Black Canyon Restaurant

My husband, Jack, and I recently enjoyed a late afternoon meal at Black Canyon, located in northwest Fort Wayne on Dupont Road. This recently-opened restaurant boasts beautiful stonework throughout the interior dining and bar area as well as the exterior patio with fully-equipped outdoor, wood-burning fireplace. It gives off the feeling of an authentic Southwest steak-house, and we were not disappointed with the service, atmosphere or food.

We started our meal with the spinach and artichoke dip, which included warm chips and salsa. Cheesy and good, I would recommend this starter if you’re looking for a hearty treat full of flavor!

The prime rib was cooked perfectly, and Black Canyon allows patrons the flexibility of a custom cut should they desire more than the 14-ounce size on the menu. Sided by a large portion of mashed potatoes seasoned well and loaded with flavor, this entree met the demands of my meat and potato-eating husband raised on quality beef products.

Typically, I’m a salad-and-glass-of-wine kind of girl, but I went all out by ordering the 8-ounce filet mignon (medium rare) with a loaded baked potato side. Too many salads can cause a hearty-meal craving! Grilled over hardwood, filled with flavor, my steak was tender and lightly seasoned. The loaded baked potato was equally as flavorful without an over saturation of toppings.

I’d recommend Black Canyon for a weekend dinner or special occasion. To feed your curiosity and hear your stomach growl, visit their website at www.blackcanyonrestaurant.com. Jack and I look forward to a return visit. If you haven’t eaten at Black Canyon Restaurant, visit this new and unique eatery. You’ll be pleasantly surprised and glad you did!
