What a wonderful way to spend an evening—at Cerulean Restaurant! Regardless of the snow-covered lawn, this place offers a calm and warm ambiance with clean lines and water-colored accents. True to its name. The menu isn’t huge but it certainly engages the tastebuds. We started our meal with a Didier staple— potatoes (don’t judge). Crispy Potatoes to be exact, Pancettas covered with Manchego cheese and roasted garlic dill sauce for dipping. Other options included crudo plates, soups and cheese boards.
Cerulean offers a huge wine list and, from a review of the spirits list, one of the best drink menus in the area. With some guidance from Eric, our server, I enjoyed a glass of Aveleda Vinho Verde. Good, good, good for sure.
Entrées cover land, sea and air options. I enjoyed the Sitka Salmon including gnocchi, seasonal vegetables, arugula and vinegar-butter sauce. The salmon was cooked to perfection and veggies garden-fresh. Jack (my hubby) teetered between the Maple Leaf duck breast and braised lamb. Duck will be his entrée on our next visit. The braised lamb was atop hand-torn pappardelle pasta, goat cheese, cream, roasted squash and almonds. Needless to say, we didn’t need a “to-go box” at the end of the meal.
If you’re looking for a destination at the end of a lazy afternoon drive or have a special occasion to celebrate, Cerulean Restaurant at Winona Lake fits the bill.
